Touchstone Energy Sports Camp Scholarships

Lace up those sneakers, basketball fans! Each year, North Carolina’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives accept applications from middle-school students for all-expense paid scholarships to summer basketball camps at the University of North Carolina and N.C. State University.

Young men can apply to attend the Roy Williams Carolina Basketball Camp in Chapel Hill, and young women can vie for a spot at the Wolfpack Women’s Basketball Camp in Raleigh. More than 50 scholarships are awarded to students statewide annually.

The 2019 camp dates are:

Wolfpack Women’s Basketball Camp: June 9 – 12, 2019
Roy Williams Carolina Basketball Camp: June 22 – 26, 2019

To be eligible to apply, students must be rising sixth, seventh or eighth graders at a qualifying school in North Carolina. Applicants will be judged on their academics, extracurricular activities and an essay that must accompany the application.

Each Touchstone Energy cooperative in the state awards two scholarships to students in their local area, one to a young man and one to a young woman, each year. The scholarships send 26 young women to the N.C. State University Women’s Basketball Camp in Raleigh and 26 young men to the Roy Williams Basketball Camp at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Both camps are held in the summer, and campers will work closely with the college coaches and camp staff to develop fundamental skills that help the young athletes perform and excel both on and off the court. Campers will stay in dorms overnight during the camp sessions and must provide their own transportation to and from camp.

The Touchstone Energy Sports Camp scholarship program provides a unique educational and athletic opportunity for our state’s youth and demonstrates Touchstone Energy’s core values of accountability, integrity, innovation and particularly, commitment to community.
