Fifty young leaders and advisors from across the state are in Washington, D.C., this week on the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour, marking the 50th year for the program in North Carolina.
This year’s contingent — rising high school seniors selected by their electric co-ops — boarded a D.C.-bound bus on Sunday and have a packed agenda through the week until their return on Friday.
Students met with elected officials on Capitol Hill today, and will tour landmarks including national memorials and monuments, Smithsonian museum, the National Cathedral and Arlington National Cemetery.
Follow the group this week on Facebook or Twitter, and search for updates from all co-ops with the hashtag #NCYouthTour.
