South River EMC Grant Program Reaches $2 Million Milestone

South River EMC‘s Community Assistance Corporation (CAC) recently awarded $23,622 to Stedman Volunteer Fire Department, Clement Elementary and Hargrove Elementary. The grants puts distributed funding from the co-op’s Operation Round Up program at $2,003,041.94.

Stedman VFD was among the grant recipients in a recent round of funding that pushed total funds awarded over the $2 million mark.

“Having member’s bills rounded up each month allows small change to add up and make a big difference in our community,” said South River EMC Vice President of Member Services & Public Relations Catherine O’Dell. “With these funds, the CAC has helped a total of 139 organizations, many of which have received funding multiple times for different programs.”

Grants can be for up to $5,000 for non-profits and up to $10,000 for educational institutions. South River EMC’s Operation Round Up program is funded quarterly, and grants are issued through a competitive process. Since inception, the program has helped organizations purchase equipment, informational materials and more.
