South River Electric Membership Corporation Hosts Girl Scout Troops

Girl Scouts from Troops 1265 and 1570 in Cumberland County, including Brownies, Juniors and Cadets, recently visited South River Electric Membership Corporation to earn their “Co-ops for Community” patch.

South River EMC had expressed an interest in participating in the program through coordination with the Cooperative Council of North Carolina (CCNC). When scout leaders reached out to CCNC about the badge, they were referred to the co-op for help in earning the patch.

The co-op scout patch program was developed by Cabot Creamery Cooperative in collaboration with the National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International. Those interested in serving as a tour site to help local Girl Scouts earn the patch can contact CCNC at info@ccnc.coop for more information.
