N.C. Electric Cooperatives Restoring Power to More Than 49,000 Members Following Severe Weather

RALEIGH, N.C. (April 13, 2020, 9:30 a.m.) – Electric cooperative crews are restoring power to more than 49,000 members impacted by high winds and severe storms across North Carolina. Storm conditions are still impacting many areas as the storm moves east, and additional outages are possible throughout the morning. Cooperative crews are working to restore outages as conditions are safe to do so.

Cooperative members are encouraged to stay vigilant and heed local safety warnings as the storm moves across the state. Real-time outage information from electric cooperatives across the state is available on a Statewide Outage Map. Cooperative members experiencing a power outage are encouraged to report it to their cooperative. Outage reporting numbers can be found here.

Cooperative members are reminded to:

  • Never go near downed or sagging power lines and to report them immediately to your cooperative.
  • Never touch or attempt to clear debris from a downed power line. Always assume that power lines are energized and dangerous.
