Human Connections Fund Opens to Support Hurricane Harvey Recovery in Texas

North Carolina’s electric cooperatives are supporting co-op communities in Texas affected by Hurricane Harvey through the Human Connections Fund, which allows North Carolina electric co-ops to work together to help sister cooperatives and their employees in times of need.

Hurricane Harvey brought power outages, severe flooding and destruction to southern and eastern Texas in late August. Restoration work continues in the region, demonstrating the resolve of crews and the strength of the cooperative network, but there is still a long road ahead for many.

The Human Connections Fund will collect contributions for Texas through Tuesday, Sept. 12. Donations are tax deductible and will be sent to the Texas Electric Cooperatives Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Fund.

Members of ElecTel Credit Union can call 1-800-849-5600 and ask to make a contribution to the Human Connections Fund. Donations will be transferred directly from members’ accounts. ElecTel will also accept over-the-counter deposits. In addition, checks made payable to “Human Connections Fund” can be mailed to:
