After reaching a peak of approximately 35,000 outages late Tuesday evening, less than 500 outages remain across cooperative service territories statewide thanks to the swift work of co-op line crews.

North Carolina’s electric cooperatives have been working day and night, rain and shine to help restore power to members across the state. Co-op crews will continue to work until power is restored to all members experiencing outages from Finn.

Update: 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10

Cooperative crews continue to make significant progress in the wake of Finn’s trek across the state. Currently, 90 percent of outages have been restored across the cooperative network after reaching a peak overnight. Restoration efforts will continue throughout the afternoon as line crews work to replace broken poles, repair downed lines and restore power to all cooperative members.

• As of 1 p.m. on Wednesday, approximately 3,500 North Carolina cooperative members are without power, down from a peak of approximately 35,000 overnight.
• Co-op crews will continue to work to safely restore power to members still impacted by outages from Finn.

Update: 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10

Cooperative crews have been hard at work restoring power to members overnight and into this morning. While power has been restored for many, work will continue Wednesday to restore outages caused by downed trees and limbs due strong winds and heavy rainfall from Finn.

• As of 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, approximately 7,600 North Carolina cooperative members are without power, down from a peak of approximately 35,000 overnight.
• Co-op crews will continue to work to safely restore power to members still impacted by outages from Finn.
• While restoration continues, cooperatives encourage members to stay far away from downed or sagging power lines and report them to your local co-op.

The severe weather system that brought strong winds and heavy rainfall across the state Tuesday is moving into eastern North Carolina this evening. These conditions, combined with saturated grounds from continuous heavy rainfall, are resulting in additional power outages, especially in the eastern portions of the state. Cooperative crews will continue to work – day and night, rain and shine – until power is restored.

• As of 8 p.m. on Tuesday, approximately 31,200 North Carolina cooperative members are without power.
• While weather conditions improve as the storm passes, damage from downed trees and power lines combined with lingering strong winds can lead to additional or prolonged outages.
• Cooperative crews across the state are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power.

Finn is trekking across central North Carolina early Tuesday evening, bringing a strong line of severe weather that is causing downed trees and limbs, damaging power lines and leading to outages. Cooperative crews have worked throughout the day to restore early outages and progress continues even as new outages arise due to storm conditions.

• As of 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, approximately 26,400 North Carolina cooperative members are without power.
• Cooperative crews are out assessing damage, working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power to members.
• Co-op crews in North Carolina’s western counties have made great progress in restoring power, but scattered outages could continue as strong winds remain.

Cooperative line crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power as Finn continues to move across state, now primarily impacting central and eastern North Carolina. A combination of strong winds and heavy rain have led to an increase in outages over the last several hours.
