Electric Cooperatives Quickly Restoring Power

Raleigh, N.C. —North Carolina’s electric cooperatives are reporting a total of approximately 14,500 power outages as a result of Tropical Storm Hanna.

Most outages occurred east of I-95 with the bulk of the outages in coastal counties. Electric cooperative line crews will continue to work quickly to restore power to all cooperative consumers. The bulk of the outages are expected to be restored today.  Cooperative officials are urging members to exercise caution as they go outside today to assess the damage around their homes. Do NOT attempt to remove limbs or any other debris from power lines, even if the power lines have fallen. Treat all power lines as if they are energized. Contact with any power line could be deadly.
