Blue Ridge Energy Reestablishes Assistance Program After Cold Snap

After days of record-setting cold in early 2018, Blue Ridge Energy was among many co-ops across the state that stepped up support to members faced with higher-than-usual energy bills.

Blue Ridge Energy saw the need to reestablish its “So No One Goes Cold” program to utilize Operation Round Up funds to make crisis heating assistance available to more people than ever, and to increase awareness of how members can help.

Members in need can contact local emergency assistance agencies that Blue Ridge Energy is working with to distribute funding. The cooperative’s employees and members who would like to help their friends and neighbors, many of whom might be asking for help for the first time, can make a donation to the Blue Ridge Electric Members Foundation.

Blue Ridge Electric Members Foundation just celebrated its 10th anniversary and will soon surpass $2 million in crisis heating assistance and has already passed the $1 million mark in community grants.
