Lenoir-based Blue Ridge Energy has been named one of the state’s best employers by Business North Carolina magazine. The annual survey was conducted by Best Companies Group, which polled employees and their employers on dozens of topics, from recruiting practices to recognition programs.

Blue Ridge Energy was listed in the medium employer category with 224 employees, and was noted for encouraging community outreach through sponsored activities including volunteering for local projects and organizations, as well as for an annual employee picnic at Tweetsie Railroad for retirees, disabled and active employees and their families.
