Smart energy choices with rewards!

What is EVConnectNC?

EVConnectNC is an EV telematics charging program offered by participating North Carolina electric cooperatives that uses connected vehicle data to understand charging behavior and encourage charging during periods of lower system cost. Members who meet program requirements can receive incentives for charging within prescribed periods, helping lower the cost of EV ownership.

This program also gives cooperatives valuable insight into EV charging patterns, enabling them to manage grid impacts more efficiently, control costs, and plan for future demand. By supporting smarter energy use and accelerating EV adoption, EVConnectNC advances the cooperatives’ Brighter Future Vision by delivering innovative energy solutions, enhancing reliability, and creating long-term value for cooperative members and communities.

What is EV managed charging and telematics?

EV managed charging is a technique that encourages or automatically shifts EV charging to off-peak hours, helping reduce strain on the electric grid while lowering costs and improving system efficiency. Telematics uses data from a connected vehicle or charger to help understand charging patterns and support managed charging programs without requiring additional hardware.

What does EVConnectNC require for participation?

Who is WeaveGrid and how do they work with the cooperatives?

WeaveGrid helps utilities manage rapid load growth without overbuilding the grid, ensuring reliable, cost-effective electrification at scale. WeaveGrid is NC Electric Cooperatives’ technology partner for EV managed charging. Through the EVConnectNC program, WeaveGrid provides a software platform that helps participating cooperatives monitor EV charging, encourage off-peak charging, and deliver EV programs to their members.

Who is North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives?

North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives is a network of 26 not-for-profit electric cooperatives serving member owners throughout the state. This network includes the statewide organization that supports the local electric cooperatives through power supply, innovation, grid planning, and shared services. Beyond providing electricity, cooperatives are investing in their communities and delivering new energy solutions, such as EVConnectNC, to improve quality of life for 2.8 million co-op members in 93 of North Carolina’s 100 counties.

Who are the 26 not-for-profit distribution cooperatives?

Distribution cooperatives are the local electric member-owned utilities that directly serve homes, farms, and businesses. While each distribution cooperative operates independently and maintains its relationship with local members, they work together through the statewide network to achieve economies of scale, share best practices, and deliver services that may be more difficult to provide individually.
