N.C. electric cooperatives' outages reduced to 4,500

Raleigh, N.C. (Feb. 26, 2015, 5:30 p.m.) — North Carolina’s electric cooperatives have made significant progress restoring electricity to members who lost power as a result of winter weather. Total outages now stand at approximately 4,500, down from nearly 16,000 earlier today.

North Carolina’s electric co-ops would like to thank members for their patience as restoration efforts continue. Cooperative line crews will continue to work diligently through the night to restore power safely and quickly until the lights are back on for each and every cooperative member.

Road conditions may become treacherous in many areas as temperatures drop this evening. If you see utility vehicles stopped on the side of the road, slow down and move over if possible. This not only keeps utility workers safe, but it's also the law. Downed or sagging power lines can be live and deadly! If you see one stay away and call your electric utility or 911. Outages reporting numbers for North Carolina’s 26 electric cooperatives can be found at: http://ncelectriccooperatives.com/storm/outages.htm.

North Carolina’s electric cooperatives serve more than 2.5 million people in 93 of the state’s 100 counties.
