N.C. Electric Cooperatives Restoring Outages

Raleigh, N.C. (Feb. 17, 7:30 a.m.)—North Carolina’s electric cooperatives are working to restore power to approximately 18,000 members without electricity as a result of the winter weather.

Cooperative crews are out in force to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible. Line crews from less-impacted electric cooperatives are on their way to help those with more significant outages. The deployment of crews is part of a mutual-aid agreement shared among the nation’s nearly 1,000 electric cooperatives to help one another in times of emergency.

Road conditions remain treacherous in many areas. If you see utility vehicles stopped on the side of the road, slow down and move over if possible. This not only keeps utility workers safe, but it’s also the law. Downed power lines can be energized and deadly!  Stay away and call your electric utility or 911.

A list of outage reporting numbers for each of North Carolina’s 26 electric cooperatives can be found at http://www.ncelectriccooperatives.com/storm/outages.htm.

North Carolina’s electric cooperatives serve more than 2.5 million people in 93 of the state’s 100 counties.
