North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation elects officials to Board of Directors

Raleigh, N.C. (April 20, 2012)—Three electric cooperative officials were recently elected to serve as officers of the North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation (NCEMC) board of directors. Donald H. Spivey, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President of Pee Dee Electric Membership Corporation, was elected as president; Mitchell L. Keel, Chief Executive Officer of Four County Electric Membership Corporation was elected as vice president; and Mark A. Suggs, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Pitt & Greene EMC was elected as secretary-treasurer.

Spivey, Keel and Suggs were elected to their terms during the group’s annual meeting in Raleigh.  The elections took place during the business session of the meeting on April 18.

Pee Dee EMC, Four County EMC and Pitt & Greene EMC are three of 26 member-owned electric cooperatives that provide reliable, safe and affordable electric service to homes, businesses and farms in North Carolina.

NCEMC is one of the nation’s largest generation and transmission cooperatives. It is governed by a board of directors and is responsible for planning, developing, operating and maintaining a power supply system to serve the capacity and energy requirements of most of the state’s member cooperatives.   

North Carolina’s electric cooperatives serve 2.5 million people in 93 of the state’s 100 counties.
