Division: Power Supply
Reports to: Manager of Combustion Turbine Generation
Education: Requires a High School diploma. Vocational, technical or military training in the electrical, instrumentation, mechanical or maintenance field is desired.
Experience: A minimum of three to five years of related experience in combustion turbine generation and substation operation and maintenance, electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, millwright, or utility distribution/transmission system.
Job Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Should be proficient, preferably journeyman qualified, in at least two of the following core skill areas: power plant mechanical, power industry electrical or instrumentation & controls, and combustion turbine operation. Should be able to perform all plant maintenance and operations functions under normal and emergency conditions with limited supervision. Requires good written and verbal communications skills. Must be skilled in analyzing problems, identifying possible solutions and recommending solutions that are most economically appropriate. Work background must include progressively increasing responsibilities, and candidate must be dependable and reliable. Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Working Conditions: Normally works at either the Anson or Hamlet plants. Expected to be able to access all areas of the plant and equipment. Expected to live within 60 minutes of the two generating plants. May be called on to work extended hours, nights and weekends, as plant conditions and events require. Also must routinely wear hardhat and safety glasses. Other personal protective equipment is required based on a hazard analysis. Occasional travel is required for training, inspection of other plants or inspection of equipment manufacture or repair in outside facilities.
